KETO TEST STRIPS
Ketogenic diets force your body to adapt to using fat for fuel when glucose (from carbs) is not present. Ketones are also a great energy source when consumed from exogenous sources. KetoSports' Keto Test Strips provide a fast, convenient way of testing urine for the presence and concentration of ketones via a measure of acetoacetic acid.
These small absorbent sticks change color to reflect the amount of ketones present in urine. Simply dip the reagent end of the strip into a urine specimen or wet reagent area of the strip by passing through the urine stream. Tap edge of strip to remove excess liquid and check color within 10-15 seconds against the color chart provided on the bottle.
The chemical reagent is very sensitive to moisture, including what's in the air. It's important to keep the lid of the container tightly closed at all times. Once opened, they have a shelf-life of about 6 months.
What else is important to know?
- Ketones are excreted in the urine only when there is more in the blood than is being used as fuel by the body.
- Strenuous activity, such as an intense workout, may mean that you have used up the ketones in your blood, thus there will be no excess ketones present in your urine. You may also have had a lot of liquids to drink, thus the urine is more diluted, and readings may not be as strong.
- The goal is to test positive for ketones, but not always in the darkest purple range. Testing in the darkest purple range consistently could mean that you are dehydrated. If you're showing even a small amount of ketones in your urine, then you are in ketosis, rather nutritional or as induced through supplementation.
KetoSports Keto Test Strips provide a great way to test ketone levels after consumption of KetoForce and KetoCaNa.
